De Meric
- 1999 De Meric Cuvée Catherine de Médicis
This is simply one of our best Champagnes at any price. [An allocation] of the tiny production of this wine goes to Gerard Boyer, the best restaurant in Reims and Guy Savoy in Paris, a Michelin three-star that is one of the top restaurants in the world. I have been lucky enough to have this wine on a few occasions and it is second to none [...] It is made exclusively from fruit grown in the Grand Cru of Ay, and is comprised of 50% Pinot Noir and 50% Chardonnay. The wine has exquisite texture from obviously low yields and almost 10 years aging on the lees. It has a very dense, rich Pinot Noir flavor but a delicate, lengthy Salon-like finish that shows off the quality of the Chardonnay.

- 2002 De Meric Cuvée Rene Millesime
[This fantastic Champagne] is made exclusively from biodynamic meunier from the village of Crouttes-sur-Marne in the western part of Champagne. [...] The color is a gorgeous light gold, with an amazingly compact and powerful bead. On the nose it is explosively spicy with caramel apple and freshly-toasted bread notes heading a long list of adjectives. On the palate it is savory, with a "more pinot noir than pinot noir" flavor that I found to be one of the most complex I have ever had. This is not shy Champagne, and I think it would be perfect to pair with foie gras or a rich pate on the most special of occasions for the smallest of parties! [...]
